SOUTHMARK has developed along many years of field experience a system which delivers certainty for whoever wishes to explore the operational challenges to face, either in the jungle, mountain, desert, or offshore setting. A Logistics Feasibility Study (LFS) aims not only at identifying what the operational challenges are with respect to a given region, but also to provide alternative ways of action in order for a project to formulate and implement a logistic strategy, either for the construction or operational stage. Thus, a typical LFS entails ocean and/or river shipping; port operations; inland ground transportation, both trucking and railways; warehouse and distribution management; cargo airfreight; crane management; customs clearance planning; road surveying; personnel mobilization; and logistic-related environmental impact assessment. Given the specificity of every stage of development a project holds, it becomes advisable to undertake separate LFS for construction and operation.
